تایپوسام یکی از جشن های مذهب هندوست که هر ساله میلیون ها زائر و گردشگر را در معبد باتو کیو (Batu Cave) گرد هم می آورد تا شاهد یک آیین دیرینه باشند. هندوها به ویژه نژاد تامیل این روز را به دو مناسبت جشن می گیرند؛ روز تولد مورگان (پسر کوچک شیوا و پرواتی) و روزی که پرواتی نیزه ای را به پسر می سپارد تا با آن اقدام به نابودی دیو بد سیرتی به نام سوراپادمن کند.
پیروان این مذهب در این فستیوال سه روزه، توصیه به روزه داری شده اند. آنها پیش از شروع مراسم در رودخانه و یا زیر دوش هایی که در نزدیکی آن تعبیه شده است غسل می کنند و مسیری را تا معبد پیاده می روند. در این مسیر عموما نذوراتی را همراه دارند از جمله انواع میوه، گل و کوزه های شیر. بعضی از هندوها نیزعلم هایی را موسوم به کاوادی (Cavadi) بر دوش می کشند. آویزان کردن غل و زنجیر بر بدن، فروبردن سیخ درزبان و تراشیدن موی سر نیز از جمله آداب این مراسم دینی ست. این افراد را عموما گروه هایی با نواختن طبل و انواع سازهای کوبه ای تا معبد باتو کیو همراهی می کنند.
